The chiropractic cure: Neck injuries

Whiplash can occur in MVAs (motor vehicle accidents) at speeds as slow as 5 mph. Often occurring in rear-end collisions, whiplash can occur suddenly and create a lot of pain as well as tightness and tenderness. Any slight impact from the collision can cause you to experience whiplash. If not properly treated, neck injuries may hinder your normal activities and cause disruption in your everyday life.

Have you ever had whiplash, the most common injury after a car accident? Being involved in a motor vehicle accident can often cause one’s neck to jolt violently or suddenly from one direction to another. This sudden movement can cause a lot of pain in the neck region and limit one’s ability to freely move their head due to strained muscles and tendons.

Neck injuries can cause headaches and other conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Symptoms of neck stiffness, soreness, and headaches are common amongst individuals who experience neck injuries. During a rear-ended accident, different regions of your cervical vertebrae often undergo hyperextension and hyperflexion which create problems in the alignment of your vertebrae.

Just because the pain is gone doesn't mean that the neck healed properly - chiropractic care is essential for ensuring the neck heals quickly and properly. We can help evaluate your condition and provide proper treatment for your neck injury to ensure that it fully heals, reducing or eliminating any pain and ensuring that you don’t have further symptoms down the road. It’s important to get the right care for your neck injury, even if the pain has gone away.

We are experts at resolving injuries sustained in MVA's. We can get you relief and help you get back to your life as quickly as possible. Many motor vehicle accident injuries cause a misalignment of the spine and thus disrupt the nervous system. We can gently realign the spinal vertebrae, allowing the nerves to regain their normal function and your body to finally be free of pain and discomfort once again.

Preventing tennis injuries

Tennis elbow is one of the most common injuries in tennis resulting from overuse. The condition is caused by an inflammation of the tendons which connect the forearm to the outer region of the elbow. Repetitive, forceful movements can trigger pain in your elbows and hands. Overuse of the muscles and tendons, with activities such as tennis and other repetitive exercises, can cause injuries and aches that could disrupt everyday activities.

Tennis elbow is painful and limits mobility. The most common symptom associated with tennis elbow is pain, which usually occurs on the outer portion of the elbow. It typically will occur when the person grips something or uses the muscles to extend their wrist. Constant throbbing pain may occur for some people which may get worse during activities that strain it. It often becomes difficult to move the elbow and even the shoulder or upper arm and this condition can affect everyday activities such as brushing your teeth, opening a jar, or lifting objects.

Tennis elbow, if left untreated, often leads to invasive procedures. Depending on the severity of pain, surgery may be one of the only options left if tennis elbow isn’t treated early on. There are two types of surgery typically performed for tennis elbow. The first consists of an abnormal tendon being trimmed and the second consists of part of the tendon being removed and reattached to the bone. Recovery and rehabilitation vary depending on the type of surgery and the extent of it, but daily activity may not be possible for 3 to 6 weeks after surgery and it may take many months before the patient can return to certain activities or sports. Thankfully, though, there are alternative treatments for tennis elbow. Chiropractic care can help to prevent this condition from taking a toll on your life.

Chiropractic adjustments can treat tennis elbow. A chiropractor can perform gentle adjustments and cross-friction massages, which can help reduce the inflammation and increase the blood circulation - allowing the tendon to properly heal. Our techniques can help realign the body, reducing any pressure on the elbow. We can also locate any issues that are affecting the elbow’s function. For example, a misalignment in the neck, shoulders, or back may be causing pain in the elbow. A chiropractor can adjust the body to be realigned, offering a relief of tension that may be able to fully treat tennis elbow.

We have specialized therapies such as cold laser to assist the healing process, accelerating it without pain. Cold laser therapy is quick and effective in improving or even eliminating tennis elbow. It helps to strengthen and speed up tissue repair, increase nerve function and the immune system, and reduce inflammation. Cold laser treatment can help you heal from tennis elbow more quickly and painlessly. Through chiropractic care, we can help reduce your pain and improve your joint mobility!

Don't let nagging pain slow you down

Pain travels at a rate of approximately 3000 feet per second, but it can really slow you down. Experiencing pain can not only cause discomfort when you move but can also reduce your mobility and your body’s ability to properly function. Thankfully, however, there are gentle treatments available to reduce or even eliminate the pain that is causing you discomfort. With chiropractic therapy, we provide gentle spinal alignments and adjustments which help the nervous system function properly. Chiropractic treatments can help alleviate pain in your muscles, joints, and bones and help you get back to the activities and exercises you’ve been missing out on.

Pain, even at almost imperceptible levels, can keep you awake at night and prevent you from a good night's rest. If you’re dealing with any type of chronic pain, you may find that no matter how exhausted you are, it’s incredibly difficult to get enough restful sleep, causing you even more exhaustion. When dealing with constant discomfort, it’s not only hard to fall asleep but also to stay asleep throughout the night. Being well rested can really help restore one’s body and mind and we can alleviate your physical pain to ensure that you get the right amount of sleep during the night.

Pain can, and usually does, affect our mood! Just ask your spouse what they think of you when you are in pain. Don't let chronic pain get in the way of your relationships. It’s important to take control of your pain and not let it control you. If you let pain have the control, you’re at risk for suffering from mood issues, such as depression, which can greatly affect not only your own happiness but also the relationships you have with your loved ones.

By removing subluxations, or restrictions in the spine, we directly affect the nervous system. One of the biggest benefits you receive through chiropractic care is a reduction in pain! Chiropractors use gentle pressure to restore the spinal vertebrae back to where it should naturally be, which helps to realign your nervous system and ultimately provides you a reduction in pain. Chiropractic treatment is one of the safest, most natural methods for reducing and eliminating pain.

We are experts at reducing pain. We have the knowledge and experience to provide you with effective treatments for various types of pain. We not only strive to reduce your pain, but to also prevent it from coming back. At our Burbank clinic, we can help you on your path to living a pain-free lifestyle so you can enjoy your time doing the things you love.

Personal injury cases: We accept insurance benefits - Med-Pay benefits

Med-Pay coverage will cover the medical costs resulting from an auto accident, regardless of who was at fault. Car accidents can occur at any moment, therefore it’s important to be prepared in case you and/or others involved sustain injuries and require medical attention. Without Med-Pay medical benefits, most auto insurance policies may take months to pay for your medical expenses. However with Med-Pay, you can expect immediate coverage for medical costs after a car accident. This benefit not only covers the medical expenses for the driver who has sustained injuries, but all passengers involved as well.

Typical coverage ranges from $2000-10,000 and covers any medical costs needed. It's also very affordable! Med-Pay is an extremely affordable medical benefit attached to your car insurance policy. It can cover up to $10,000 in medical expenses while also covering co-pays with additional health insurance policies, coinsurance, out-of-pocket expenses, and deductibles. Getting Med-Pay is an excellent safety precaution to protect you or anyone involved in an automobile accident. Unlike regular health insurance, MedPay benefits can cover ambulance fees, dental, prosthetics, and even chiropractic care. Med-Pay allows you to choose the doctor that is best for you and can cover your chiropractic care expenses until you are fully recovered.

Your medical payments coverage moves with you (walking, riding with a friend or on public transportation, in-state or out), as well as with your insured vehicles, regardless of who's driving. Med-Pay benefits will cover you wherever you go and will also cover any other individuals involved in the accident. Whether you were driving your own car or someone else’s car when the accident occurred, MedPay will still provide you medical benefits to pay for your injuries. The maximum coverage is also available to each individual involved. For instance, if you and your friend experience injuries during a car accident, each of you will separately receive the maximum coverage.

You get the care you need immediately. Rather than having to delay seeking medical attention after a car accident due to anticipated medical bills that you’re unable to afford, you’ll be able to see a chiropractor right away, which will increase your chances of quickly recovering from your injuries. At Onkels Chiropractic, we accept Med-Pay benefits and can help to successfully treat your accident-related injuries.

Call Mike Martinek at State Farm Insurance at (818) 714-7000 for more info. What is chiropractic? And what's a subluxation?

Chiropractic is a complete system of healthcare focused on restoring, preserving, and optimizing health by natural hands-on care. Chiropractic therapy consists of spinal manipulation, alignment, and adjustment, which are used to heal the body naturally. Adjustments restore health to the bones, joints, and muscles while reducing aches or discomfort due to the stresses in our life. Chiropractic focuses on a holistic approach to health care as it uses natural, drugless, and non-surgical treatment to restore the body and mind to its optimal state.

Subluxations are restrictions or partial dislocations of the joints, especially within the spine. Subluxations may occur due to chemical imbalances, injuries, trauma, or stress and can be an underlying cause of numerous health issues. If subluxations occur, they may interfere with the functioning of the vertebrae and nervous system and may cause nerve damage. Chiropractic care helps to recognize, reduce, and prevent subluxations through gentle spinal alignment by restoring spinal function and mobility.

Subluxations can lead to serious diseases and many chronic conditions, such as arthritis. While it’s unfortunate that so many diseases can be caused by subluxations, thankfully there is chiropractic therapy which can halt, eliminate, or even prevent these conditions. Chiropractors can eliminate subluxations, which can cause a restoration of health to the nervous system and immune system, as well as increase the strength and mobility of your joints. With gentle spinal alignment performed by a chiropractor, you can help restore your body to a healthy state.

Chiropractic has been around for nearly 120 years. It's safe and very effective with no side-effects. In fact, chiropractic treatment is one of the safest non-invasive and natural therapies for treating joint, neck, and back pain, as well as headaches and other health-related issues. The risks of chiropractic therapy are extremely small and the treatment is found to be very effective; helping patients return to better health faster than they would with medical care.

All ages benefit from chiropractic adjustments. I've seen newborns, middle-aged folks, and people confined to hospital beds all benefit. No matter what age or level of health you have, it’s a great idea to visit a chiropractor to make sure you’re not suffering from any subluxations. Chiropractic therapy can benefit people of any age, whether it’s a newborn who may have experienced subluxations during the birth process or an elderly person who suffers from arthritis. Restore the quality of your life by getting regular chiropractic check-ups.
