TMJ

Does your jaw pop, click or ever get locked? This can happen if you have TMJ dysfunction.

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction is a condition that affects the joint that connects the jawbone to the skull. Symptoms can include pain or tenderness in the jaw, difficulty chewing or opening the mouth, and clicking or popping sounds in the joint.

Chiropractors are trained to evaluate and treat musculoskeletal disorders, including TMJ dysfunction. Chiropractic treatment for TMJ dysfunction typically involves a combination of manual therapy techniques, such as joint mobilization and manipulation, soft tissue therapy, and exercise prescription.

During our examination we will assess the alignment and movement of the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, as well as the alignment of the neck and spine. Based on the evaluation findings, we will develop an individualized treatment plan to address the underlying causes of the TMJ dysfunction.

Research studies have suggested that chiropractic treatment can be effective in reducing pain and improving function in patients with TMJ dysfunction.
